The Commissariaat voor de Media (CvdM) in Hilversum, a significant authority overseeing the Dutch media landscape, recently underwent a series of exciting changes. Alongside a refreshed corporate identity, their headquarters received a complete modern makeover that blends nature and design seamlessly.

The Vision

Located in a lush, forested area, the goal was to create a workspace where the natural beauty of the outdoors and the modern interior design coexist in harmony. This ambitious project aimed to establish a green, sustainable and inspiring environment for employees and visitors alike. The main focus for the redesign was the integration of built-in planter boxes to extend the building’s green theme throughout its interiors. The design aligned perfectly with CvdM’s vision to bring the beautiful Hilversum landscape indoors, bridging the gap between the exterior and interior spaces.

A Sustainable Makeover

The creative plan included replacing the existing stainless-steel plant boxes with versions crafted from natural materials, perfectly complementing the updates interior and the building’s classic architecture. This choice not only highlighted the greenery but also supported CvdM’s sustainability goals by reusing as many existing materials as possible. The greatest challenge lay in creating a smooth transition between the lush outdoor surroundings and the indoor spaces, ensuring they enhanced rather than competed with one another.

The Result

The result is a revitalized building where the outdoors and workplace come together in perfect harmony. Carefully selected office plants and planters enhance the vibrant furniture without overwhelming the space, creating an inviting and energizing work environment. The updates reflect CvdM’s commitment to balancing innovation with heritage, showcasing that working in a natural setting can be both inspiring and enjoyable.

At CvdM, they’ve proven that a workspace in tune with nature truly is something to celebrate!
