The once-abandoned office building on Leigraafseweg, located in Doesburg’s industrial zone, had remained unused for some time. Fortunately, the Municipality of Doesburg recognized its potential and decided to transform it into their new municipal headquarters.
The Challenge
The task at hand was to design a functional and vibrant workspace for a recently renovated office building on the business park in Doesburg. With municipal employees occupying the top two floors of the property located on the Leigraafseweg, it was essential to create a working environment that fosters calm, focus, and well-being.
The Creative Plan
The concept centered around merging nature with the urban office setting. Through the implementation of an “urban jungle” theme and the strategic addition of large office plants, we designed a variety of nature-inspired spaces across the building. This approach not only provided visual diversity but also encouraged a connection to nature within the workplace.
The design includes over 120 green elements, ranging from individual pots to expansive green dividers, all aimed at creating a biophilic environment. This natural integration strengthens the bond between people and nature, enhancing the well-being of employees and their productivity. Sustainable planters, wall-mounted green features, and containers filled with French tree bark introduces natural element in multiple forms throughout the interior.
Het resultaat
The outcome is a municipal office where nature and work seamlessly coexist. The top two floors of the Leigraafseweg building have been transformed into a green oasis where municipal employees can work and collaborate in peace. While the ground floor is soon open for public services, the first and second floors already offer an inspiring workspace for the employees of the Municipality of Doesburg.
By combining sustainable, natural elements with a modern office environment, we have achieved a balance that is both functional and visually appealing, setting a new standard for productive and harmonious municipal workplaces.
