Van Egmond Groep Doetinchem, a prominent electrical wholesaler In the Achterhoek region, everyone is familiar with the recognisable white villa, ‘De Tol’, located on the A18 motorway in Doetinchem.

Van Egmond Groep has been using this building for about ten years now, and they felt it was time for a new green decoration for the workplaces and communal areas. And we were allowed to draw up a tailor-made plan for this!

The challenge

In 2023, we were commissioned to draw up a new and refreshing greenery plan for Van Egmond Groep, while also incorporating a number of existing plants into our maintenance plan. Our challenge was to design a planting plan that seamlessly matches the client’s wishes and the specific conditions of the premises. In close consultation with the client, our consultants took stock of the requirements and created a clear picture of their preferences.

A remarkable feature of this building is the atrium, which was specially constructed during the conversion to create a more pleasant working environment. We are delighted that they made this choice at the time, because not only employees benefit from more daylight, plants too get an energy boost from a little more sunshine in their lives.

Besides the building in Doetinchem, which became too small soon after they moved in, they found room for expansion a few doors down. Here, too, we were allowed to create a customised planting plan. Extra challenging to dress these two locations in the same way.

The creative plan

From this collaboration came a thoughtful plan that included a mix of vertical greenery, large foliage plants and cabinet containers. These were planted in sustainable planters made from both natural materials and recycled plastic. The choice of planting took into account the different lighting conditions in the building, selecting plants that thrive in direct sunlight.

The second building used similar elements, but also some clear differences. First of all, it concerns different light conditions; in this location, there is more direct sunlight. Not all plant species like this, so we adapted to this. This location also has made-to-measure cupboard boxes and hexagon wall visuals alternated with vertical green hexagons. A scoop for us, too!

The result

The result is an ensemble of greenery that not only improves the aesthetics of the buildings, but also contributes to acoustics and therefore a productive working environment. With a monthly maintenance plan including a service subscription, the Van Egmond Group branches are assured of radiant greenery without worries. Our efforts ensure that the customer can fully focus on their core activities, while we take care of their planting.

With this green transformation, Van Egmond Groep is assured of a visually attractive and sustainable working environment, where both employees and visitors can enjoy a fresh and inviting atmosphere.
